Via Plain of Six and Lefroy Glacier. A great ski mountaineering adventure that holds snow most months of the year.

The goal of this site is to help folks have fun, and keep track of, backcountry skiing around Fernie, BC. You won't find much commentary on avalanche stuff since I'm not a guide nor do I want to be. I'm just your average, non-rad skier with a GPS and a camera who cheats on his wife. It's entirely your own fault if you end up in trouble so use your own best judgement when out touring. And remember kids… keep your dick in your pants!

A fun day on a classic Rockies line off Mount Temple’s north ridge. Snow quality prevented this tour from getting a 3-star rating from me as it was skied out when we were there.

Via Ptarmigan Lake. Not the best skiing, hence the 1-star rating. Nonetheless, a fun ski-assisted, mildly technical winter scramble in ski boots! Continue reading “Brachiopod Mountain *”

A circumnavigation of Dolomite Peak, via Helen and Mosquito creeks. A mellow, skins-on kind of day. That being said, there are some significant slide paths and overhead hazards along the way. Don’t let your guard down!
